Sunday Sewday

Yesterday I started quilting a quilt for my husbands 94 year old grandmother. She hand pieced this quilt using up her scraps and even cutting up her old clothes, some that she had made for herself, to make this wonderful quilt. I hope that at 94 I will still be quilting. I worked on it off and on throughout the day. Almost done.

You can just catch of glimpse of my longarm machine Lulu. She is a 2015 APQS Lucey.

First thing this morning I made a new cover for my beagle puppy's bed. Henry likes to chew on zippers. He has a special ability in which he can destroy a zipper on a coat in just 5 seconds. It wasn't just his bed that he ruined, he also used his special skill on two coats. I haven't replaced the zippers on the coats yet, will be for the summer since they are both winter coats, however he now has a stylish new bed.

Here is the before. Not very stylish but it served its purpose.

The after. Isn't it adorable. Oh yes and Henry, he is adorable too. He is 6 months old and can be such a handful at times but he can melt your heart with just one tilt of his head.

The new cover doesn't really match our living room but I love it. The canvas print fabric I purchased at Michaels. It was on sale for $3.99 for one yard and the yellow canvas fabric I used on the bottom is left over from when I made my son a firefighter costume for Halloween one year.

After the dog bed makeover it was skirt making time. My daughter has a music program coming up for school this week and she said that her music teacher said she could wear a skirt. So I went to this simple skirt tutorial by Dana Made it and got to work. Very cute skirt and she is happy.

I also made significant progress on my en Provence mystery from the wonderful Bonnie Hunter. This was her most recent mystery quilt and I hate to admit it, but I was not a fan of it at first. So many pieces, which is expected for one of her mysteries but now that I have a 1/4 of it assembled, I am in love!!

Sew I had an absolutely wonderful Sunday Sewday. Hope you were able to do something crafty today.
