My first purse with a ZIPPER!!!

I just made my first purse with a zipper yesterday. Went smoothly until the handles. Don't know how I sewed them on wrong but I did, but I digress. The bag turned out wonderful! I enlarged the pattern just a little from the original recessed zipper shoulder bag pattern, but it is still not quite big enough for me. Still have a kid in diapers. So I think that I will give this one to my mom.

I added lots of pockets on the inside.

Now to make a larger bag with a zipper for me. Wish me luck. I have a pattern that I like and I am going to add my own zipper without instructions. Shirley over at The Sewing Cave insists that I can do it, and I think I believe her. Check out her blog, she does amazing work!

A quilt for Payton!!

My youngest niece starts preschool next month and she needed a small blanket for nap time. Well not just any blanket would do, so I made her a quilt! She loves it! She was so excited to have something with her name on it and a quilt just for school.

I used the Yellow Brick Road Pattern and the letters came from The Quilter's Community. I pieced the backing, great way to use up fabric from my stash.

In the last picture, you can see my sister's head over the top of the quilt, Payton of course in the green shirt and then my daughter, Katelynn, in her new swimming suit. She has been sick and missing going to the beach.

All 140 blocks of the Sylvia Bridal Sampler are done!! It has taken me a year and a half to complete it. I would work on it here and there and just this last week I have really pushed myself to finish. Here it is!!

The start of a zoo!

I saw this tutorial for this adorable crochet giraffe on the Lion Brand so I got out my yarn and hooks and made her. The kids have named her Mrs. Giraffe. To get the pattern you will have to set up a FREE Lion Brand account and they have many free patterns.

Then since all zoos need a lion.......

Meet Big Daddy Lion. Found the pattern for him here. She has many more animal patterns there and I am sure that I will be using many more of them because the kids just love these two!
