Circle skirt for KK!!

Last night I put KK to bed and got to work making her a circle skirt. I used this awesome Circle Skirt Tutorial from DanaMadeIt.Com. I love her website and all her awesome tutorials and patterns. Check her out!

I hung it up on her closet door last night and she saw it this morning as soon as she woke up. When I walked into her room she was pointing at it saying "Is that mine? I want to wear it."  Hope that she doesn't expect to see something new hanging up there again tomorrow morning. Although it was great to see such a big smile on her face early in the morning.

I have had this fabric for a month now and bought it to use with this tank top. Only the plan was to cut the tank top and add the fabric to it and make a tunic. Well, it never happened and I am glad because I love this look! We put it on and snapped a picture by the fence before we left for work.

Oh and look, there is part of our new blacktop driveway. Love the look of the neighbors old fence with the ivy growing in it.

SBS is a top!!

My Sylvia's Bridal Sampler is finally a top. I started this quilt back on January 1, 2011. I had to get my parents up on ladders so that I could get the whole quilt in.

I am sending this qult to my great friend Shirley over at The Sewing Cave to quilt it. She does an amazing job!!

My first purse with a ZIPPER!!!

I just made my first purse with a zipper yesterday. Went smoothly until the handles. Don't know how I sewed them on wrong but I did, but I digress. The bag turned out wonderful! I enlarged the pattern just a little from the original recessed zipper shoulder bag pattern, but it is still not quite big enough for me. Still have a kid in diapers. So I think that I will give this one to my mom.

I added lots of pockets on the inside.

Now to make a larger bag with a zipper for me. Wish me luck. I have a pattern that I like and I am going to add my own zipper without instructions. Shirley over at The Sewing Cave insists that I can do it, and I think I believe her. Check out her blog, she does amazing work!

A quilt for Payton!!

My youngest niece starts preschool next month and she needed a small blanket for nap time. Well not just any blanket would do, so I made her a quilt! She loves it! She was so excited to have something with her name on it and a quilt just for school.

I used the Yellow Brick Road Pattern and the letters came from The Quilter's Community. I pieced the backing, great way to use up fabric from my stash.

In the last picture, you can see my sister's head over the top of the quilt, Payton of course in the green shirt and then my daughter, Katelynn, in her new swimming suit. She has been sick and missing going to the beach.

The start of a zoo!

I saw this tutorial for this adorable crochet giraffe on the Lion Brand so I got out my yarn and hooks and made her. The kids have named her Mrs. Giraffe. To get the pattern you will have to set up a FREE Lion Brand account and they have many free patterns.

Then since all zoos need a lion.......

Meet Big Daddy Lion. Found the pattern for him here. She has many more animal patterns there and I am sure that I will be using many more of them because the kids just love these two!

Ruffles!!!

Made KK a darling little pair of capri's with ruffles for her on Sunday just before a cookout at my brother's house. Found the pattern and tutorial HERE. I love the waist on them. It has to feel super comfy around KK's waist! The best part is that I found the fabric at Hobby Lobby in the remnant bin for right aroud $2.

I only have this one picture of her wearing them. As soon as I finished making them we were out the door and on the way to my brother's house.

She loves playing with this toy gun of Matthew's. Will have to get another picture next time she wears them.

I am in love!!

In love with my new serger! I have a feeling that I am going to be making even more clothes for KK now. For my niece too! I was looking around on Pinterest and found this adorable apron top tutorial.

The outfit on the left is for my niece Payton, which it will be a little bit before I get to see her wear it. And of course the one on the right is for my little Miss KK.

I love how the back is open. Will keep her nice and cool during the hot summer days!! She even wore her own shoes when we went outside for pictures.

Now I have to get back to work on my Sylvia Bridal Sampler. I want it on the frame being quilted next month. Well by August for sure!

New outfirt for KK!!

Just bought myself a new serger, Brother 1034D, and I LOVE IT!! Easy to thread and not as intimidating as I thought it would be. It makes such a huge difference in the clothes that I made for KK last night. I know it is only my first time using it but WOW! What a difference! Can't wait to use it on some knit fabric.

We went outside for pictures this morning. KK just had to wear her brother's shoes.

She was doing so good saying "Cheeeeeeeessseeeee!" and smiling for me but everytime I took the photo she looked away.

Just bought these beautiful flowers yesterday. Hope that I remember to water them. As you can tell from my grass it has been a really hot and dry June this year. Hopefully we get some rain coming our way.

I found the tutorial for the shirt pattern from a wonderful blog, Sparkle Power. The shorts I did by making my own pattern from a pair that KK had in her dresser. Had to be very quiet last night at 10 when I snuck into her room to grab them.

Green it is!!

I was at my local quilt shop, Countryside Village, and I saw this adorable sample jacket hanging on the wall and I just had to purchase the pattern and fabric to make it for Katelynn and it is adorable!! Took me a little bit to pick the fabric but as soon as I saw this beautiful green I knew it would be perfect for her.

She loves this little lamb. The easter bunny brought it last year and it is so soft.

Not sure what she was looking at in this picture but it was just so cute I had to share it.

The bandaid on her forehead is there in place of 3 of the 4 stitches that she had put it last week. She was running at work and ran right into a tv stand. Ouch! We go tomorrow to get the last stitch out.

Love the back of this jacket with the gathers and the lined hood.

Here she found one of her pockets. She loves pockets! The weather has turned cooler here so it is perfect time for her to wear this jacket.

Repurposing for KK!!

I have had this shirt for awhile now. I liked it when I bought it buy never liked the way it looked on me. My mom hates it and complained every time I wore it. So I thought it was time to give it a new life.

Didn't take long to do and I just used a top that fits KK well as my pattern. First time doing it and I think it turned out well.

She likes it and that is all that is important. You can see her boo boo on her forehead. She was running at work and got into a fight with a tv stand, the tv stand won and she ended up with 4 stitches.

For Megan....

My oldest niece just graduated from junior high so I decided to make a couple of gifts. I crocheted her a cute graduation owl. (sorry it is not the best picture of it.) She loved the owl!

I also made her an adorable scottie dog pillow. She will also get fabric markers with it and she can have her friends and family sign it and have a great memorable gift. (better picture of the scottie dog.)

I did this post on my phone so sorry if it looks a little goofy.

Who loves a giveaway?

I do!!! The Quilting Lodge has an awesome giveaway right now! Check it out HERE! Good luck!

My first hand applique block!

I just finished my first hand applique block. 1 of 16 that I will be doing. I found this website and fell in love with her blocks! This block is called Rose Wreath.

I was a little nervous working on this at first. I wasn't sure if I would enjoy it but I really did. I know that I did not want to use freezer paper because I had used that technique a few times with machine applique and I hated standing at my ironing board with starch and burning my fingers. *OUCH* I wasn't sure about just doing needle turn and then I read a tutorial on back basting applique and just had to try it. Love how it works. I am sure that I will get better as I go but I think I did pretty good for my first go at it.

Baby doll stroller upgrade!

If your daughter has ever had a baby doll stroller you know the fabric is really cheap and rips easily. Well thanks to my son, he helped it along even more than what it was already ripped, I had to make a new one. Took my time and removed the binding around it so I could reuse the straps. Made a pattern from the original pieces. Dug through my stash and came up with this!

Cute, right? I think so. My 2 year old daughter even said 'Thank you Momma!' But then again she says thank you to everything. But it was still cute! Didn't take me long at all. Under an hour. Would have been a little faster but had to give the kids a bath too.

Sylvia Bridal Sampler Rows 1-11

So far this year has started our great for my SBS. I completed the 11th row (row K) and have it attached to the other 10 rows. I am hoping to get another 10 blocks done by the end of February. I have a total of 110 of 140 blocks completed! I am falling in love with this quilt more and more with each completed block.

I just started my first hand applique block this month. So far I am enjoying it. I was a little nervous at first but I am getting more confident with each stitch. I am doing this quilt HERE and will be doing all 16 blocks. I am using this back baste applique technique. Hopefully I will have a picture of my first block soon.

Quiltmas 2011 -- Lots of pictures.

I was very busy the end of this past year getting quilts made for my nieces and nephews for Christmas. 6 total.

First to open their quilt was Blake. Obivously I taped the boxes very well and my mom had to help. Plus I have been saving these diaper and wipes boxes for some time so I would have something to put the quilts in.

Next to open was Blake's brother Taylor. He just recently started racing motorcycles this summer and loves it.

Then my niece Payton opened her quilt. Believe it or not that is a happy look on her face in the first picture.

That is the backing of the quilt that you see in this picture. She crawled it in as soon as it came out of the box. The right side is scrappy yellow brick road quilt in girly fabrics.

Next was my niece Megan.

This is the back of her quilt. I used up left over pieces from other items in it and everyone ws picking them out.

Then it was Kilee's turn.

And then the back of hers. I used up a good portion of my orphan blocks.

Then my nephew Matthew opened his. He loves baseball.

I also have quilts for my kids but I haven't taken a picture of them yet.
Have a Happy New Year!
