I'll admit it.

I'm a slacker when it comes to blogging. Shame on me. I have been really busy making clothes for my daughter, my niece and my nephew. Next is my son. We went today and picked out some fabric to make some comfy pants for him for when he is relaxing, at his request of course. The only pictures I have today are some CUTE shirts I added some strips too and a skirt. I used the Moda Bake Shop recipe by Angela Yosten Flip Floppin' Toddler Wear. and Strip Pieced Skirt by Sarah B Designs.

This one is for my niece for her birthday this month.

Here's my daughter's. She has worn it but I haven't caught her with my camera yet. She is a sneaky little one.

Here is my little Miss Katelynn in her skirt.

I used a Moda Hoopla jelly roll and made all of these and another pleated skirt. So cute! I have even more clothes that I have made this month, just need to get a picture of them. As long as I am not a slacker again I will have the pictures here for you soon!

Dresses for the girls!!

I was busy yesterday making dresses, one for my daughter Katelynn and one for my niece Payton. The are about the same size and I made the dresses large enough so that they should be able to wear them next year too. They will be able to wear them this winter with tights and a long sleeve shirt. They are just too cute!

Here is Katelynn and Payton! They are just too cute! (I know I already said that but just look at them!)I worked really hard to keep their hands in their laps and not in their mouths!

My nephew, Matthew, wanted in the picture too!

My son Andrew held up the dresses for me yesterday so I could get a picture of the backs. And of course he is shirtless. He has shirts, really he does. He just prefers to not wear them when we are home! :)

Now I want to make even more dresses and shirts and clothes! Wonder when I am going to find time to make quilts now? I did manage to make a block to finish off row 9 of my Slyvia Bridal Sampler. Will take a picture of that in the next day or so.

Spoiled!

It had been a hectic past few weeks. Lots going on with my family. I have been trying to spoil my mom lately, she deserves it. We went shopping at the Local Quilt Shop and she picked out some fabric for a purse I was going to make for her. I surprised her with the completed purse and 2 matching little pouches, one for her camera and I am not sure what she used the other one for. I had my son, Andrew, model the purse for me and he was not happy. He said "Mom I am not a lady and I do not use a purse!" He is so funny.

Let's see, what else have I done? I did a paint chip challenge in one of my online groups. They send you 3 paint chips and you can add one other color and make something. So I went with a landscape with a couple of cactus and again spoiled both my parents with it and gave it to them. They have a vacation home in Arizona.

With this quilt I spoiled my daughter Katelynn. She loves Mickey Mouse so much! She has a stuffed Mickey Mouse as big as her that she carries around with her all day when we are at work. I also have another Mickey Mouse quilt for her that is twin size, the top is finished just have to load it on the frame and quilt it.

And here is my little star! We went to the beach over the labor day weekend.

Then one last thing. (I really should blog more often so that I don't have such large posts.) This was a round robin that I worked on. I added the flying geese and then the border next to it between the geese and the pinwheels. She got an awesome quilt!

I think that is all that I have for you today! Thanks for stopping by.

Let's see.......

I am still slowly working away on my Sylvia's Bridal Sampler. I only did 3 blocks in July but I hope to get back on track this month. I made my daughter 2 Mickey Mouse quilt tops. One is twin size and the other one is for her to use now in her crib and to drag around the house with her.

There she is sitting on the twin size one before borders and here is the cuddler one with borders. I need to get a backing together so that I can quilt these for her.

I have been also working on some round robin quilts that have been coming my way but I can't post pictures of them yet. I made a quilt for either Project Linus or Quilt for Kids last month too (look down). I think that I have 4 finished kids quilts. Just need to send them off on their way. So that makes 2 for each charity.

That is about all that I have been working on, I think.

Sylvia Bridal Sampler Row 8 and more!!

I have had this row done since June but just now had to chance to share it here. I am over half way done with this sampler and I LOVE IT!!

The blocks in row 8 are:
Log Cabin
Wedding Ring 2
Sarah's Choice
Dove in the Window
Sylvia's Shooting Star
Lancaster Rose
Odd Fellow's Chain
Pinwheel
Weathervane
King's Star

Here are links to the previous finished rows.

I had a couple of finishes for June too!! This little Christmas wall hanging was a quilt that I won as a prize in my online quilting group Scrappy Quilter's Anonymous. My friend Sandy donated this cute little quilt to our group for the challenge and I am sad to say that this is my first Christmas Quilt. It is such a cute little quilt. The backing fabric came from my friend Judy in Arizona. I just love the fabric!

This other finish is a mystery quilt from 2009. I love this fabric line. It is a Moda Sandy Gervais fabric line. I don't remember the name of. This was the first mystery quilt that I did and I loved how it turned out.

Thanks for stopping by my blog!!

How to organize your fabric.

This is how I do it. It is not my preferred or recommended method, just the one I seem to do the most often.

Step 1. First you need a cute little girl. Here is mine, little Miss Katelynn Kay. If you do not have a little cutie of your own you may need to borrow one. Cute little boys will work too!

You may recognize her from my other post about the chair stealer. Isn't she cute?

Step 2. Be completely distracted sewing. I was working on this quilt at the time.

Step 3. Well step 3 goes without directions. This is what you need the little cutie for.

Step 4. Fold the fabric and put it all back. She helped me organize 2 drawers that day.

I'm addicted to...................

BATIKS!!

I love them and can not get enough of them! I bought this kit last year at a local quilt show and just finished putting it together, however I am a little disappointed that it didn't come with borders. Oh well, live and learn I guess. It is still BEAUTIFUL!! The pattern is called Strippy Double Diamonds

I apologize for my horrible pictures. I need to find a better place than my floor to take pictures.

The pattern calls for a 2" cut inner border and a 4" cut outer border. Now to find fabric.

Quilting with my niece!

My niece, Kilee who is 10, has been wanting to make a little quilt for her American Girl Dolls. Finally she was able to come spend the night and we made a little one. The quilt finished at 24" square and I think that she might give it to her mom as a birthday gift tomorrow instead of using it for her dolls. I told her that we can always make another quilt.

She did an amazing job. She has used a machine before but more or less just played with it. I of course did all of the rotary cutting and binding by myself. She did all the piecing and helped me with the pinning. There were a few seams that we had to do a little repair on but I am very impressed with how she did. She was getting a little tired when we got to the free motion quilting but she still did about half of it.

She did really good with the loops especially since this was her first time free motion quilting. Did you see how she had her hands. Perfect!!

I did some flowers, hearts, loops, meander, leaves and some peace signs on it. She loves peace sign. Is always drawing them. So here she is with her finished quilt.

Row 7 of Sylvia's Bridal Sampler Complete!!

Last month I did 3 rows of the Sylvia's Bridal Sampler. Boy was I busy! Made great progress but going to take it a little easier this month. I am planning on doing just one row this month. I started piecing together another top because I needed a change and didn't want to get burnt out on the sampler. Don't get me wrong, I love the sampler, just need something different for a bit.

So here are rows 1-7. The blocks in the 7th row are:

Love in a Mist
Oklahoma Dogwood
Bear's Paw
Chimney's and Cornerstones
Mariner's Compass
Grace's Friendship
Sarah's Favorite
Crown of Thorns
Modern Tulips
Arizona

Here are links to the previous finished rows.

I am officially half way done with the blocks. I have 70 of 140 blocks completed and sewn into the top. I am so glad that I decided to piece this together as I went.

Same blog..........New name!!

Thanks to my friend Shirley, she came up with a new nickname for me in our online quilting group Scrappy Quilters Anonymous, Bobbin and I love it! She is Sewbee in her Sewing Cave and I am Bobbin. Get it! Kind of like Batman and Robin only the quilting ones!

Oh no!! There is a chair thief in my sewing room!!

I am busily sewing strips together for my double diamond batik quilt that I am working on. I get up to press my strips and I turn around to sit down and there in my chair is the chair thief!!

Oh wait! That is no chair thief that is my little future quilter Katelynn. She has discovered that she can climb on my chair and that when she pushes buttons on my sewing machine it makes a wonderful beeping noise! She is such a stinker. Next to the sewing machine you can see a strip set for the new top I am working on. There are 10 different groups of colors. Going to be beautiful when it is finished, especially since it is batiks! My favorite!

Here she is at the other end of my table. Andrew pushed a box up next to my table so that his sister can see what is going on and of course grab everything and anything that she can reach.

Bama Bound Quilts

I just came across this blog, Bama Bound Quilts.  Michelle Kizziah of McCalla, AL has put this together to give quilts to children who are victims of the April tornadoes. With the quilt you would make a medium sized tote bag with at least one pocket and include a stuffed animal. Please get the word out to as many quilty friends! You can find all the details at the link above in the right hand column.

Row 4 of Sylvia's Bridal Sampler

Finished row 4 last month and I believe that it is my favorite row so far. I have 40 of 140 blocks with with 10 rows to go. My goal for this year is to have this a complete quilt and on my bed keeping me warm.

The blocks in this row are:

Hands All Around
Milky Way
Mother's Delight
Rambler
Square and Star
Odd Fellow's Patch
Robbing Peter to Pay Paul
Rosebud
Orange Peel
Boy's Nonsense

You can read about the other rows by following the links -  Row 1 , Row 2 and Row 3.

I love how the Robbing Peter to Pay Paul turned out! The bright green really stands out against the black. I was a little unsure about the curved seams but they turned out wonderfully.

I also finished my Quiltville Roll Roll Cotton Boll Mystery quilt but I have yet to take a good picture of it. My bedroom is too small to take a picture of it in there so I'll have to think of something.

Doll clothes!!!

My niece asked for some doll clothes for her American Girl doll for her birthday and of course, me being a super aunt, I dug out my patterns and started sewing away! I love making doll clothes! I remember cutting up fabric when I was a kid trying to make clothes for my Barbie dolls. It is so much to easier to make doll clothes with a sewing machine and a pattern! I would have made her more but I used up all my velcro. She has also been wanting to make a shirt for herself, but sadly I just haven't had the time to go shopping with her and teach her. I need to find the time because she is growing so fast.

I also crocheted a hat, scarf and shawl.

Now I have the desire to make a dress for my daughter. I was going to try it without a pattern today but I think that I will wait and at least look at some patterns before jumping in.

I've been tagged and my new machine!!!!

What an honor! Thank you to Joyce at Young by Design for tagging me! Right now she has an awesome giveaway going on! Make sure you check it out!! You better go fast because it ends tonight!

The idea behind being tagged is to award great blogs with less than 300 followers and to get the word out about these wonderful blogs. The rules are simple!

1.Tell your readers who tagged you.
2. Add a link to their blog.
3. Award 3-5 bloggers who you think deserve this award.
Inform them & post directions to your blogspot.
Please don't tag people who already have 300 followers.

I am tagging Shirley, Sandy and Jennifer! Three great ladies!! Enjoy looking at their blogs! I do!!

Now for my new machine! My Singer passed away and I needed a new machine. Off I went and came home with this! Janome Memory Craft 4900. Love it!! I get home and my husband says "Oh, you just got a little one?" I knew I should have gotten that other one! I still love it though!
